General recommendation for black powder rifles is 1 gr of powder for every .01 of caliber. So a .50 Caliber rifle would get 50 grains of powder. That's a starting point and modern guns should be able to handle quite a bit more, probably up to 100 grains in a .50 cal rifle. Contact your manufacture for load information to be on the safe side.
